Frequently asked questions
Everything business owners ask us about hiring a dedicated offshore professional — from talent quality and technical skills to hours, management, pricing and what happens after they start.
Talent & Quality
Is Filipino talent good enough for technical and professional roles?
+
The Philippines has one of the world's most established international professional services workforces, with a large pool of tertiary-educated, English-speaking professionals working across business, finance, technology, marketing, creative, customer experience and specialist roles. Its IT-BPM industry alone employs around 1.8 million people and has expanded well beyond traditional call centre work into areas including IT, software, healthcare information management and global capability centres.
The talent is there. Our job is to find the right people.
That's why TD Hire doesn't simply send you a list of applicants. We recruit specifically around your role, looking at experience, technical capability, communication, industry knowledge and the quality of their previous work.
We then identify the strongest candidates, test their skills where appropriate and let you meet them and put them through your own brief before making the final decision.
You're not hiring because they're Filipino. You're hiring because they're the right person for the job — and they're based in the Philippines.
What level of experience do your professionals have?
+
It depends on the role.
We recruit experienced professionals, senior specialists, team leaders, managers and highly skilled technical professionals.
We recruit based on what your specific role requires — not a one-size-fits-all profile.
Do they have Australian experience?
+
Many of the professionals we recruit have experience working with Australian businesses and international companies.
Where Australian experience is important to the role, we specifically look for it during the recruitment process.
How do you know they can actually do the job?
+
We assess candidates against the requirements of the role, including their employment history, relevant experience, technical capability, communication, software knowledge, previous work and overall fit.
Candidates can also complete role-specific skill testing before being introduced to you.
Can I test candidates myself?
+
Yes — and we encourage it.
Once you've shortlisted candidates, you can give them a practical brief based on the actual work they'll be doing.
Your brief. Their work.
This lets you see how they approach your work before making your final decision.
How good is their English?
+
Strong English communication is important to the roles we recruit for.
We assess communication throughout the recruitment process, including how candidates communicate, understand instructions and present themselves.
Will they understand how an Australian business operates?
+
Many already have experience working with Australian and international businesses.
Regardless, they'll learn your systems, processes, expectations, clients and way of working — just like any other member of your team.

What if I need someone with very specific technical skills?
+
That's exactly where a detailed recruitment brief becomes important.
We'll recruit specifically against the skills, experience, software and responsibilities you need rather than sending you a generic pool of candidates.
Recruitment Process
How does the recruitment process work?
+
It's simple:
1. Tell us who you need — We understand the role, responsibilities, experience and skills you're looking for.
2. We source the market — Our recruitment team searches for relevant talent, often reviewing hundreds of applicants.
3. We assess and shortlist — We assess experience, skills, communication, industry background and fit.
4. We skill test — Where appropriate, candidates complete role-specific testing.
5. You meet the strongest candidates — We introduce the candidates worth your time.
6. Your brief. Their work. — You can give shortlisted candidates a practical task based on your actual business.
7. You choose your person — You make the final decision.
How many candidates do you screen?
+
It varies by role, but we can source from 100–300+ applicants depending on the position and market.
The goal isn't to give you the most resumes. It's to find the strongest candidates worth meeting.
How many candidates will I meet?
+
We introduce a small number of strong candidates who meet your requirements.
The exact number depends on the role, seniority and quality of the available talent.
How quickly can I hire someone?
+
Our typical placement timeframe is 7–14 days.
More specialised or senior roles can sometimes take longer because we're focused on finding the right person rather than rushing the process.
Management & Working Relationship
Who manages the professional?
+
You do.
They're working as part of your team, so you manage their day-to-day responsibilities, priorities, feedback and performance.
Will they actually work as part of my team?

They're there to do the role — not simply complete a list of generic tasks.

They're doing the work for your business, just from the Philippines.
Can I communicate with them directly?

Scaling Your Team

Once you've successfully added one professional to your team, we can recruit additional roles as your business grows.

Rather than hiring one person for one task, you can gradually build a team of professionals across the areas of your business where you need additional capacity.

The Bigger Question
Why should I use TD Hire instead of finding someone myself?
+
You can.
But finding someone is the easy part. Finding someone good takes time.
TD Hire handles the sourcing, screening, assessment, skill testing and recruitment process before introducing you to the strongest candidates.
You don't need to work through hundreds of applications or spend hours trying to work out who's actually capable.
We find the people worth meeting. You make the final decision.
And if you choose Managed Service, we can continue supporting the administration around your contractor after they've joined your team.
Is this just a VA service?
+
No.
You're not buying a generic VA service.
You're hiring a professional for a specific role within your business.
Give them the role. Give them the brief. Give them access to your systems and processes — and let them do the work.
They're part of your team. They're just working from the Philippines.
